Glock announced two new additions to its Gen5 lineup and expanded support for its Performance Trigger in a release tied to SHOT Show 2024. The full details are in Glock's press release.
What Was Announced
Glock is releasing the G29 Gen5, chambered in 10mm AUTO, and the G30 Gen5, chambered in .45 AUTO. Glock says the two pistols include more than twenty design changes compared with their Gen4 predecessors. The company also made the GLOCK Performance Trigger compatible with additional Gen4 models.
Key Details
- New models: G29 Gen5 (10mm AUTO) and G30 Gen5 (.45 AUTO)
- Availability: Now available at dealers
- Design changes: Glock Marksman Barrel with enhanced polygonal rifling and an improved crown, removal of finger grooves, and an ambidextrous slide stop lever
- Performance Trigger compatibility: G26, G19, G17, and G34 (Gen4/Gen5), plus G19X, G45, and G47
- Required part: Performance Triggers now ship with a Gen5 slide cover plate, which must replace the slide cover plate on Gen4 models for proper function
What It Means for Gun Owners
Owners of Gen4 G26, G19, G17, or G34 pistols can now fit the Performance Trigger, but they will need the Gen5 slide cover plate included with the trigger. Anyone considering a G29 or G30 should check dealer stock, since Glock directs buyers to its dealer locator for availability.
Bottom Line
Glock is extending its Gen5 line into 10mm and .45 AUTO and making its Performance Trigger work with more of its installed base. Buyers and Gen4 owners should confirm model compatibility before ordering.
