Springfield Armory has launched a line of pistols that come from the factory with an Aimpoint COA red dot already mounted. The first three models are 9mm Echelon variants, and the company says 1911 models will follow later. The full announcement is at Springfield Armory's press release.

What Was Announced

The new pistols are machined at the factory with the Aimpoint A-CUT interface, which is a full-length dovetail on the slide. The optic is held by a front hook and a rear wedge. According to the company, the wedge pushes lateral forces into the dovetail rather than the screws, which is meant to improve durability and zero retention. The mount is low enough to co-witness with iron sights.

Key Details

  • Optic: Aimpoint COA closed-emitter red dot, 7075-T6 aluminum housing
  • Dot: 3.5 MOA, rated for more than five years on a single CR2032 battery
  • Settings: Four night vision-compatible and eight daylight settings
  • Submersion rating: 25 meters
  • Lens: 15x15mm; optic weighs 1.7 oz
  • Models at launch: Echelon 4.5F COA (4.5" barrel, 17-round flush magazine and 20-round extended magazine); Echelon 4.0FC COA (4" barrel, full-size grip module, 17-round flush and spare 20-round extended magazine); Echelon 4.0C COA (4" barrel, 15-round flush and 18-round extended magazine)
  • Part numbers: EC9459B-COA (4.5F), EC9409BFC-COA (4.0FC), EC9409B-COA (4.0C)
  • MSRP: $1,119 for each model

Springfield says the optic lists at $617 and comparable Echelon models start at $710, which puts the bundled savings above $200 at list price. The release is dated March 17, 2026, from Geneseo, Illinois.

What It Means for Gun Owners

For buyers who already want a red dot on a 9mm Echelon, this bundle removes the job of picking and mounting an optic separately. Whether the factory-cut slide holds zero as well as a well-set aftermarket plate is something only extended range and carry testing will show, so buyers should check reviews once units ship.

Bottom Line

If the list math holds, the bundle is a reasonable buy for someone shopping this optic and this platform anyway. Availability dates beyond the March announcement were not included in the release.
