Weatherby has introduced the Model 307 as a new platform, and the company says it is not meant to replace the Mark V or the Vanguard. In its Weatherby's press release, the company says the Mark V is built for high-pressure magnum cartridges and the Vanguard is its value-focused line. The 307 is aimed at shooters who want the aftermarket support of the Remington 700 platform without paying for a custom rifle.
What Was Announced
The Model 307 uses a full cylindrical action with a 700 footprint. Weatherby says it will accept virtually any 700-compatible stock, scope mount, chassis, or magazine on the market. Every 307 ships with a TriggerTech trigger, the same make used on the Mark V. The bolt has a tool-free takedown design that lets the firing pin assembly come out for cleaning or travel. Weatherby also says every 307 carries its sub-MOA accuracy guarantee.
