When the Hellcat launched in 2019, Springfield Armory set a world record for magazine capacity in its class: 11+1 in a gun smaller than the SIG P365. The Hellcat became one of the fastest-selling handguns in history. The Hellcat OSP (Optical Sight Pistol) version allowed direct optic mounting at a sub-$600 price point when competitors charged hundreds more for that capability.

The Hellcat's 3-inch barrel and 1-inch width make it genuinely pocketable while still holding more rounds than most full-size guns from a decade ago. The High Hand Grip allows shooters to choke up significantly, reducing muzzle flip for a subcompact. The adaptive grip texture is aggressive where it needs to be without shredding shirt fabric during carry. Springfield's ADAPTIVE GRIP TEXTURE is a legitimate differentiator.
